She's here!

Julia ("Lia") Maslen arrived at 11:49 PM on Tuesday weighing 7 lbs. 13 oz.
Mom and baby are both doing well.
Isn't she beautiful?
I can't wait to meet her.

Jessica's one of 3 of my friends that had babies this week!
Sarah had a little girl that she named Molly.
Tara had a little boy named Blaize.
I don't know what was going on 9 months ago, but it must have been romantic!

Congrats to all the new parents!

Nuggette Arriving Today

My good friend Jessica is currently at the hospital, having contractions and will be welcoming her new daughter to the world today.  I'm in awe.  I can't concentrate on anything today, I'm so excited.  I know she's going to do great and be an amazing mom.
Is that not the cutest baby bump ever?

If you have a minute, jump over to her BLOG and wish her luck!
And send her some encouraging words...I'm sure she'd appreciate it!

Mini Med School Update

Well, I'm halfway through my Mini Med School I course and I'm absolutely loving it.

Week One we discussed the dynamics of teaching hospitals, the health care reform bill, etc.

Week Two was respiratory diseases (pneumonia) and allergies.

Week Three was skin diseases (scleraderma) and heart disease.

Week Four was minimally invasive surgery (laproscopic surgery) and the Suture Lab.

I think I missed my calling.  I should have been a surgeon.
My stitches were beautiful (must have been the sewing experience).

And I could handle that laproscope with ease (must be video game experience).

I'm a natural.

Good to know, in case this whole lawyer gig doesn't work out.

Until next time,
Dr. Sara

Ughhhh...I got nothing

I don't know what to write about, you guys.

I'm drawing a blank.

I don't want to just leave you hanging, but I've got nothing.

So I ask you...

What do you want to hear about?

Do you like the picture-heavy posts on dogs and kids and all the crap I do?

Or do you want more cooking and recipe posts?

Or maybe some DIY and home improvement stuff?

Or just a random mix of all of that?

I'd really appreciate some feedback so I can improve the blog.

Thank you!

Picnic with Teagan

Ok, since I've been posting pictures of kids all week, why stop now?

This is Teagan.  She's just over a year old.  She belongs to my sorority sister Debbie.
Debbie and Teagan met me at the park this week for a picnic lunch.
Debbie brought delicious turkey sandwiches and I brought the camera.
(I owe you lunch Debbie.)
Teagan is absolutely adorable and quite possibly the best mannered and politest child I've ever met!  She's a complete doll!  Plus, she has the absolute best teethy smile!

Even with crumbs on her mouth, she looks like an angel.
After lunch we walked around the park and checked out the old barns.
Everyone around us had to stop and say hello to Teagan.

 Did I mention she tap-dances?
It was such a gorgeous fall day in the park.
The weather here has been lovely all week.
Fingers crossed that it holds out all weekend.
 That smile kills me.

I think this picture below is my favorite.
Attitude.

Thank you Debbie for the picnic and letting me hang out with this amazing kid.
When can we do it again?

Family Reunion - Kids & Dogs Edition

A few weeks ago, my dad and Kelly hosted our annual family reunion at The Farm.  We had aunts, uncles, cousins, kids and dogs come in from all over the place.  I was the designated photographer for the weekend and got a lot of cute shots of the kids and dogs (adults too, but they're not as much fun, so I'm not going to post them).  Since I don't have a lot of time to blog today, this is just going to be a photo dump post.  Enjoy the pictures!
This is Raynn.
She belongs to my cousin Bethany is 1 year old.
She was a newborn at the reunion last year and didn't leave my arms.
This year she was much more interested in Lenny than me.
This is Eva and Sabrina.
They're cousins and best friends.
Completely inseparable.
Except when I pry them apart to get my hugs in.
(Could she be my kid or what?)

The kids (and dogs) love swimming in the pond.
The girls picked wildflowers and brought them all in the pond with them.
The effect was lovely.
This is Gage.
He's the only boy (so far) carrying on the Holtsman name.
According to his grandpa, he's a duct tape magnet.
Sweet revenge.
Mally was trying her hardest to eat the girls' ice cream.
And if she couldn't get it directly from the cone, she licked the chocolate off their faces!
Below is Eva's dog Silvie Silversnout.
Over two days she ate approximately 832 chestnuts, 6 cupcakes, 3 pieces of fish, a plate of strawberries and a breakfast casserole.
She might have had the best weekend of anyone at the reunion.

This is my cousin Cara's son Carter.
He also answers to Superman.
But today he was being really shy.
And did NOT want his picture taken.
Raynn, on the other hand, cheesed it up for the camera.
Caitlin is Raynn's big sister.
She's our gorgeous freckly redhead.
I'd kill for her hair color.
Gage and Grandpa Ron were at it again.
My cousin Mandy has 3 gorgeous boys.
I can't get over how adorable these kids are!
This is Kannon (aka Kannon Ball).
He's the youngest.
Is this kid going to break hearts or what?
When it was time to say good-bye, things got a little emotional.
Tears were involved.
It's hard to say goodbye to your best friend.
By the end of the weekend, we were all exhausted.
Even the dogs were FINALLY worn out.
